Swaziland: Workshop for CSOs in Preparation for the 2008 Elections

8 - 9 May 2008, Orion Piggs Peak Hotel

The purpose of this workshop is to mobilise NGOs and other civil society actors and equip them with requisite information and skills regarding the electoral law and the Constitutional provisions to be able to use their development/advocacy platforms to mobilize communities to assert their rights to vote and fully participate in the 2008/09 elections by making informed choices during the elections.

Objectives

• To enhance participants’ understanding of the linkages between elections, democracy and development
• To enhance the capacity of participants to effectively engage in the electoral process through election observation
• To provide a platform for participants to dialogue and strategize for civil society engagement in the forthcoming elections
