Political parties workshop: South Africa

EISA will hold a workshop for South African political parties as part of its Strengthening Political Parties for Sustainable Democracy in the SADC Region programme, funded by the Embassy of Finland in Pretoria.

The overall goal of the workshop is to contribute to the capacity building of parties. The specific objectives are to:

  • Provide participants with an understanding of the nature and character of political parties
  • Provide participants with effective leadership skills
  • Equip participants with organisational development skills
  • Introduce participants to public outreach strategies
  • Give participants an insight of political party coalitions
  • Empower participants with conflict management skills
  • Enable parties to participate in electoral processes

Six political parties including the ruling and opposition parties (in and out of parliament) are expected to attend the workshop.
