Namibia Political Parties Training Workshop

EISA and the Namibia Institute for democracy (NID) will jointly conduct workshops for political party representatives in Namibia from 8-19 June 2009.

The overall objective of the workshops is to strengthen political parties as they prepare for the National and Presidential elections scheduled for November 2009. Specific objectives are to assist party officials in preparing their campaigns and managing their media profiles as well as to provide information relating to electoral law, codes of conduct, electoral procedures and poll watching.

13 registered political parties will participate in the five workshops planned over the ten day period. A special training manual published by the partner organisations will be used.

The participants will receive training in the following modules:

• Module 1: Political Parties
• Module 2: Leadership
• Module 3: Conflict Management
• Module 4: External regulations of parties in Namibia
• Module 5: Poll Watching
