Promoting Intra-Party Democracy in Lesotho workshop

EISA will conduct two workshops for political parties in the southern districts of Qachas' Nek and Quthing in Lesotho. These workshops are part of a series from the Promoting Intra Party Democracy Project jointly implemented with the Lesotho Council of Non Governmental Organisations (LCN). The entire project is generously funded by the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA).

The overall goal of the workshops is to contribute to the capacity building of parties. The specific objectives are to:

• Provide participants with an understanding of the nature and character of political parties
• Provide participants with effective leadership skills
• Assist parties grapple with leadership selection, candidate nominations and primary elections
• Introduce participants to public outreach strategies
• Give participants an insight of political party coalitions
• Empower participants with conflict management skills
• Nineteen registered political parties including the ruling and opposition parties are expected to attend the workshops.
