EISA Kenya Party Agent Training Workshop

EISA Kenya conducted a party agent training workshop in Mombasa for the forthcoming by elections in Matuga Constituency. Party agent training falls under the objectives of EISA's broader Africa Democracy Strengthening Programme II (ADS II) which informs current EISA Kenya programme activities. This workshop will serve as a forum for EISA Kenya to engage with political parties and polling agents will be drawn from all parties which have candidates in Matuga constituency. These include ODM, PNU and UDM, amongst others.

The by election set for 12 July 2010 was occasioned by the nullification of the Matuga Election by the High Court. The workshop focused upon:

  • The political and electoral environment
  • Electoral laws and processes in Kenya
  • Election observation
  • Party agent monitoring and observation.
