EISA Chad Hosts National Multiparty Liaison Committee

14 September 2010, N’Djamena, Chad

Chad's first National Multiparty Liaison Committee will meet in N’Djamena on 14 September 2010. After months of negotiations the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has agreed to an EISA sponsored electoral forum between the Commission and the country’s main political parties. The forum is expected to provide a space for political parties to consult and advise the CENI. It would also serve as an information dissemination tool for the Commission. The forum on 14 September will discuss the following points:

  • The role of the forum as a consultative mechanism to enhance inclusion and transparency in the electoral process
  • The creation of a database of all registered parties in Chad
  • The ongoing voter registration process
  • Forthcoming activities ahead of the November National Assembly Elections;
  • Constituency delimitation and seat allocation and
  • The political parties electoral code of conduct.
