Country Review Mission
CRM's take place after a country has completed its self-assessment report and draft Programme of Action, and have submitted these to the APR Secretariat for consideration. According to the MOU on Technical Assessment and the Country Review Visit, country's must be given 60 days notice prior to the commencement of a mission. They normally take between 10-21 days and during the CRM, an APR team will meet with various stakeholders from government, the national governing body, business and civil society. The team's focus during the CRM is on evaluating the country's self-assessment process, gathering feedback on which issues are seen as most critical in the CSAR by different stakeholders, identifying areas which stakeholders feel have been omitted or received insufficient attention, and giving attention to legitimate grievances or complaints from stakeholders regarding any aspect of the self-assessment process.
During the CRM, civil society stakeholders have the opportunity to engage with the mission on issues that they feel should be drawn to the attention of the Country Team. As the CRM is responsible for producing the final country report submitted to the APR Panel, this is another useful opportunity to engage with the APR staff and ensure that key concerns are not overlooked during the report-writing process.
