Contributions to national processes

The following are examples of contributions to an official country self-assessment process and are drawn from the South African self-assessment process. A full listing of all available CSO submissions to the South African National Governing Council during this self-assessment process can be seen at http://www.aprm.org.za/. The examples listed here are no more or less significant to the final report than the other examples listed on the South African APRM website.

South African version of the APRM Questionnaire
The South African NGC reduced the size of the APRM Questionnaire into a two-page simplified format to ensure that ordinary South African citizens would also be able to contribute to the drafting of the country's self-assessment report. The document was then translated into South Africa's 11 official languages. This example is the Zulu version of the shortened questionnaire.

Parliament of the Republic of South Africa African Peer Review Process: Media & Public Outreach Process
The South African Parliament participated in the South African national self-assessment by holding a number of public hearings and initiating various strategies to enhance the profile of the country's involvement in the APRM process. This document outlines the media strategy employed by parliament to highlight and raise awareness regarding the APRM.

SAICA Submission on Question 2, Objective 5 (Corporate Governance)
Submission made to the South African NGC by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. The submission deals with governance issues in Section C of the APRM Questionnaire, Corporate Governance in South Africa.

SANGOCO and the APRM: A submission to the South African process
Submission made to the South African NGC by the South African NGO Coalition, dealing with parts of all 4 sections of the APRM Questionnaire.
