The APR Panel
The APR Panel is comprised of seven Africans who have distinguished themselves in careers that are considered relevant to the work of the APRM.
The APR Panel exercises oversight of all the APRM processes and functions, and with protecting the integrity of every country's review process from start to finish. The APR Panel is empowered to conduct country preparedness assessments; consultations with national stakeholders before, during and after a country's governance self-assessment has been undertaken; return country self-assessment reports to the respective government for revisions prior to being adopted; and to ensure the overall quality of all submissions made to the APR Forum is consistent and satisfactory.
The panel members are:
- Ambassador Bethuel Abdu Kiplagat (Kenya for East Africa), Chairperson.
- Dr Dorothy Njeuma (Cameroon for Central Africa), Vice Chairperson.
- Dr Graça Machel (Mozambique for Southern Africa).
- Prof Adebayo Adedeji (Nigeria for West Africa).
- Prof Mohammed-Séghir Babès (Algeria for North Africa).
- Mme Marie-Angélique Savané (Senegal for West Africa)
- Dr Christian Lodewyk Stals (South Africa for Southern Africa)
Mr Mourad Medelci served on the panel from inception until August 2005 when he became Algeria's Minister of Finance and Prof Babès was appointed in his place.
