Zimbabwe: Unratified protocols and conventions
Updated April 2005
Some optional protocols adopted by the UN General Assembly remain unratified by Zimbabwe:
- The Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, Degrading Treatment or punishment, which entered into force in 1987, and the Optional Protocol to the Convention.
- The International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, which into force in 2003.
- The First and Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
- The Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which aims at the abolition of the death penalty.
- Two Optional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict and on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.
- The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women.
