Zimbabwe: Electoral Commission

Zimbabwe had at on time three standing commissions which dealt with various aspects of the electoral processes, but progressively all functions have been moved to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). The Electoral Supervisory Commission was abolished in August 2005 by a constitutional amendment (Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No 17) Act 2005) and its functions were transferred to the ZEC. In 2007 the Constitution was amended again (Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No 18) Act) so as to abolish the Delimitation Commission and its functions were also transfered to the ZEC.
