Zimbabwe: 2013 Presidential election candidates
Updated July 2013
In terms of the Electoral Act (section 110) the president must be elected by an absolute majority of valid votes. Should no candidate obtain a majority a run-off must be held within 21 days between the two candidates with the highest number of votes.
The following were nominated (Government Gazette 2013, 733):
- Dumiso Dabengwa, Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU)
- Robert Gabriel Mugabe, Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF)
- Welshman Ncube, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
- Morgan Tsvangirai,
Movement for Democratic Change - Tsvangirai (MDC-T)
Kisinoti Mukwazhe of the Zimbabwe Development Party withdrew his candidacy.
