Zimbabwe: 2008 Senate election results

Composition of the Senate
According to the Constitution (1980, Article 34) the Senate has 93 members:
- 60 are elected by universal adult franchise from single member plurality constituencies, 6 from each of 10 provinces.
- The 10 provincial governors, who are appointed by the incoming President, are ex officio members.
- The President and Deputy President of the Council of Chiefs, elected by the Council of Chiefs, are ex officio members.
- 16 chiefs are elected by Provincial Assemblies of Chiefs in each of the 8 non-metropolitan provinces, two are elected by each Provincial Assembly. These elections took place on 31 March 2008.
- 5 members are directly appointed by the incoming President.
