Tanzania: 1995 Presidential election results

The elections for most constituencies took place on 29-30 October 1995, but in seven constituencies in Dar es Salaam (Ilala, Ukonga, Kinondoni, Ubungo, Kawe, Temeke and Kigamboni) the National Electoral Commission was forced to nullify the voting and fresh elections were held on 19 November 1995 (National Electoral Commission 1997, 53-60).

Women's participation
None of the candidates for the presidency or any of their vice presidential running mates were women.
Results
If a presidential candidate is from the Mainland the running mate vice presidential candidate must be from Zanzibar and visa versa (Constitution 1977, Article 47(3)).
