National observer missions

• Joint Election Observation Committee was formed by the Steering Committee on Church and Elections in Namibia and the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN)

Note: On 22 November 2009 the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) withdrew the accreditation of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) to observe the elections after the NSHR levied criticisms of the voters' roll, but on 27 November the High Court of Namibia ordered the ECN to permit the NSHR to observe the elections (Menges 2009). However, the ECN summoned the NSHR to a hearing on its accreditation scheduled for 28 November and when the NSHR failed to attend the hearing the ENC suspended its accreditation.
