Mauritius: Announcement of results

The holding of elections in Mauritius has been a regular and uncontested feature of the Mauritian political landscape. The results of post-independent general elections have always been accepted and there have never been any contestations by any political party or coalition parties that results were tampered with. In fact, this reflects the credibility and impartiality that the electoral commission and its associated bodies have in the holding and management of elections.

Announcement process

Provisional results are issued periodically. When counting has been completed the Returning Officer compiles the results and declares them publicly. The Returning Officer then submits the returns to the Electoral Commissioner (Electoral Commissioner's Office undated).
