Madagascar: 1989 National People's Assembly election results

From 1975 until 1990 no parties or political groups were permitted to partake in public life and in elections except those affiliated to the National Front for the Defense of the Revolution (FNDR, Front National pour la Defense de la Révolution—FNDR) which was dominated by the ruling Vanguard for the Malagasy Revolution (AREMA, Avant Garde de la Révolution Malgache).
The election was held on 28 May 1989. The election was due in 1998, but it was postponed by eight months to enable it to be held concurrently with the presidential election due in that year (Interparliamentary Union 1989).
