Lesotho: SA observer team for Lesotho elections 2002

In response to a request from the Chairperson of the SADC Extended Troika, President Chissano, for South Africa to send a team of observers for the forthcoming elections in Lesotho scheduled for Saturday, 25 May 2002, President Thabo Mbeki has agreed to send a team of South Africans to join the SADC Observer Mission to Lesotho.
These include: Prof Itumeleng Mosala (an academic); Pasco Dyani (Cosatu); Ms Nthabiseng Nkosi (Africa Institute); Ms Inca Mars (MP) who will be supported by a secretarial team of the Department of Foreign Affairs comprising Tselani Mokuena; Roberto Gomes and Greta Buys.
The SADC Observer Mission is expected to submit a report, upon the conclusion of the elections, to the Chairperson, President Joachim Chissano.
