The Compendium of Elections in Southern Africa is comprehensive account of the first two decades of inclusive and competitive elections in the region. Covering the period from 1989 to 2009, the book deals with 14 countries: Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Democracy Protection Instititions
A regional project entitled Promoting the Effectiveness of Democracy Protection Institutions (DPIs) in Southern Africa was recently undertaken by the Governance Institutions & Processes Programme at EISA. Eight EISA research reports (numbers 39-46) are the culmination of this regional project and are available for free download.
