It includes sections on the political background, the electoral framework, and the poll, count and results process. The Team's major observation focuses on 'First Past the Post (FPP) behaviour in a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) environment'. The Team concluded that conditions did exist for the people of Lesotho to freely express their will, and believed that overall, this was a credible election

The article attempts to capture some of the recent trends in Africa since the introduction of multiparty politics. It describes some key features of Africa's fledgling democracies and examines critically the notion of a growing trend of 'illiberal' or pseudo-democracy in Africa. The article goes on to analyse central characteristics of the political parties in these countries, and discuss the types of political parties currently contesting elections in Africa. It examines the emergence of several distinct party systems in the region by analysing the number of parties represented in the legislature, the degree of polarisation, and the patterns of party competition. The article concludes by speculating on the prospects for democratic consolidation in these African countries given the functions that their political parties perform. In this pastoral letter read in all Catholic Churches on 5 April 2007, the crisis in governance in Zimbabwe and its major effects on the country are clearly stated, its spiritual and moral aspects defined, and the roots of it examined. The Church maintains that the confrontation has reached a flashpoint and that the nation urgently needs a new people-driven constitution. It continues to preach a message of hope for the oppressed. Its political stance is precisely put; "We conclude our Pastoral Letter by affirming with a clear and unambiguous Yes our support of morally legitimate political authority. At the same time we say an equally clear and unambiguous No to power through violence, oppression and intimidation". The letter is issued by the Archbishops of Harare and of Bulawayo and seven other bishops, and is edited and compiled by Rev. Gary S D Leonard.
