EISA Kenya Field Office
In 2010, after years of working in the region, EISA opened a field office in Eastern Africa. EISA Kenya staff, based in Nairobi work to support election processes (including the 2010 Referendum and the 2012 Elections) and to facilitate the implementation of the activities envisioned under the Africa Democracy Strengthening Programme II (ADS II).
In this programme, EISA is seeking to implement activities aimed at strengthening and sustaining democratic institutions and electoral process in Kenya, Mozambique, Burundi, and Chad. ADS II objectives are consistent with the EISA Mission: EISA strives for excellence in the promotion of credible elections, participatory democracy, human rights culture, and the strengthening of governance institutions for the consolidation of democracy in Africa. EISA's Elections & Political Processes Programme will support the electoral commission, political parties and civil society organisations. Special attention will be paid to the prevention, management and resolution of election related conflict.
EISA Kenya will also support governance institutions and processes, namely Parliament-civil society engagement and political parties.
