Capacity Building
This is a 3 day programme designed to equip committee members or full time staff with the necessary skills to manage a committee or a project. The course emphasises the use of democratic principles for effective management.
It covers the following
- Committee structures - role and function of office bearers.
- Code of Conduct for committees.
- Committee procedures.
- The financial business of committees.
- Working with a constituency or community.
- Communication skills needed for effective management of committees.
- Conflict management and committee dynamics including decision making and group dynamics.
This programme is trained by EISA staff. The participant's workbook is available at a cost of R55 per person.
Participative workplace structures
EISA offers two training programmes to assist employers and employees in establishing a participative workplace structure in terms of the new Labour Relations Act. Each course runs for one day and can take up to 30 participants.
The first programme is on Participative Workplace Structures and introduces participants to the provisions for workplace forums contained in the Labour Relations Act as well as information on comparative structures.
The second programme is on Business Information and is designed to assist participants of workplace forums in understanding financial terminology.
In addition, EISA offers the following services in regard to workplace structures
- Verification exercises to ascertain the establishment of a workplace forum.
- Assisting parties in drafting a constitution for a workplace forum.
- Assisting parties in drafting provisions for elections and electoral procedure.
- Training electoral officers and electoral staff.
- A one day training programme to assist members of the workplace forum in consensus building, problem solving and managing a committee.
