EISA Burundi Field Office

Elections and democracy stakeholders have invited EISA to return to Burundi to build on the work completed in 2005 and 2006. EISA will provide technical support to the election process and will support democratic processes in the post election phase.

Programme activities

EISA Burundi is implementing a three part programme comprised of

• Domestic election observation training for political parties and civil society organisations (CSOs).
• Technical assistance to the Electoral Commission I support of its endeavour to run a peaceful electoral process.
• Training of mediators in election related conflict. EISA trained mediators will use their newly acquired skills and knowledge to diffuse tensions at the polling centres.

EISA Burundi will also implement activities that aim to further dialogue between political parties both in Parliament and the national political arena.
